Hello and Welcome!

I’m Michele, the artist, and creator of “All My Art and Soul.”

Just A Little Back Story:

A gallery once said to me,

“We love your work, but no one knows who you are.”

 I believed then, that it was the gallery’s job to promote the artist. I was wrong.

Those words still resonate with me today. So much so that I decided to do something about it.

Back then, I considered myself a landscape painter and had worked very hard at developing my style and had received some local recognition. I believed that I had finally found a decent gallery that would sell my work. In the beginning, there was some “buzz” about the “new artist”, but it soon fizzled out. So, reluctantly after some time, I decided to remove my work.

What was I doing wrong?

After much reflection, I decided that I needed a new approach because what I was doing was not working and considering that I lived in a secluded area, and was also working as a full-time elementary teacher, time was precious, and going online was the only answer.

I was also feeling that my art was dying. My desire for what I was creating was waining. I yearned for something more. A type of art that spoke from my heart and my soul. A process where my inner self could safely play, explore and discover. So, I began my search for different artists, techniques, and processes.

I wanted to change my art. I was also entering a stage of self-discovery. I had many questions.

During this soul searching period, I came upon the most life-changing book, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. Funny thing, it was not an art book, but a story of self-discovery. I keep it close at hand and continue to reread it as new layers of meaning reveal themselves each time. It is a story about the journey of finding your true purpose and the many lessons and rewards that are discovered along the way.

My website, “All My Art and Soul” was inspired by this incredible story of the heart and soul. 

I also learned the importance of diet, yoga, and meditation and how my mental and physical health is an integral part of my art practice.

During my search, I learned that an Art blog was a must to have any sort of presence online. It would also be important to share my art and story with the world or any future clients. It might also help with the issue of isolation by being able to communicate with more like-minded creatives like myself.

So, I hopped on board the “WordPress” bandwagon. How hard could it be? Wouldn’t blogging be a great way to write about my art process and gain some clarity? Wow! What a learning curve!

After many long hours, weeks, and months of online learning, I”ve finally crossed that long bridge.

Fast Forward to the present day…

I continue to grow and evolve my art practice both in mixed media collage and abstract painting. There is still so much to learn.

I am so thankful to have discovered this creative journey. The journey of creating art that is truly me.

Creating authentic art is not easy because when you are doing it, you are “navigating uncertainty” and exposing your vulnerabilities. You are taking risks and learning to use your intuition to make those creative choices in your work.

On this journey of art-making, I discovered that creating “authentic” art “IS” the journey of the heart to the soul, a path to self-discovery.

In my blog, “All My Art and Soul,” I will share with you my tips, techniques, musings, art process, struggles, and hopefully discoveries, with art journaling, mixed media collage, and abstract painting.
